Territory marking is an important component of humanitarian demining. Warning signs and fencing help people understand where explosive hazards may still be present and prevent them from entering potentially dangerous areas.
In the Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian Deminers Association, in partnership with the international humanitarian organization Cesvi Onlus, continues implementing the territory marking project “SAFE STEPS: A Humanitarian Initiative for Safe Return to Conflict-Affected Areas in Kharkiv Region” with the support of MAECI through AICS.
In May, the team continued work during the active implementation phase. During this period, 11,853 linear meters of hazardous areas were marked.
This month, journalists also visited one of the marking sites. In the video, you can see part of the team’s work and learn more about why territory marking remains critically important for people’s safety today.
We thank our partners for supporting this work. Together, we will make Ukraine safer 🖤💛
