Further activities aimed at training and increasing the participation of women in the mine action sector have taken place within the framework of the “She Deminer” program. The program is implemented by UN Women in Ukraine in partnership with the Ukrainian Deminers Association, the NGO “Girls,” and BBC Media Action, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, with financial support from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.
With the participation of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, a strategic meeting was held between the program initiators and non-governmental mine action operators. During the meeting, participants discussed opportunities for further cooperation with the program participants and their involvement in the sector. According to the results of an online survey conducted in March 2026, 28 non-governmental mine action operators expressed interest in cooperating with the program participants.
In addition, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Hrvoje Debač, together with partners from UN Women in Ukraine, visited the team of the Ukrainian Deminers Association and learned about the work of the SHE DEMINES program participants. During the visit, the guests observed how graduates of the training course apply their knowledge and skills in real field conditions. Special attention was paid to the work of the UDA non-technical survey team, which received high praise for its professionalism, quality of work, and effectiveness.
We are proud of our women deminers, who continue to prove that professionalism, responsibility, and dedication know no gender boundaries.
Together, we will make Ukraine safe.
