The profession of a deminer is about courage, professionalism, and responsibility for the safety of people and the future of Ukraine.
That is why one of the priority areas of activity of the Association of Sappers of Ukraine is promoting the demining profession, enhancing the reputation of humanitarian demining specialists, and upholding high professional and moral values.
Since 2019, the ASU has been recognizing the best mine action specialists, and in 2025 it established its own award — the Chest Badge “For Contribution to Mine Action.”
As of today, this distinction has already been awarded to:
- 33 representatives of Ukrainian state authorities;
- 6 ASU members;
- 5 representatives of international organizations and the foreign diplomatic corps;
- 2 representatives of the Ukrainian diplomatic corps;
- 1 representative of a Ukrainian mine action operator.
To mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, the ASU plans to recognize approximately 20 more outstanding professionals in the field of mine action, nominated by their respective leaders.
By recognizing these professionals, we not only express our gratitude for their work, but also strengthen the prestige of a profession that is now one of the most important for Ukraine.
