Tymur Pistriuha is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Deminers Association, a war veteran, reserve lieutenant colonel, and a mine action specialist with more than 16 years of service and professional experience in the fields of security, defense, and humanitarian action.
He holds two Master’s degrees with honors in International Relations and Military Management. He has completed professional training in Ukraine and abroad, including at the Australian Defence College. He participated in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Liberia and implemented projects in the areas of international security, defense, and humanitarian action.
In 2018, he founded the Ukrainian Deminers Association and was elected as its head. Under his leadership, UDA has become one of the most active national mine action operators in Ukraine and has implemented more than 50 humanitarian projects, primarily in the field of humanitarian demining, with support from foreign governments, UN agencies, international organizations, and charitable foundations.
Timur Pistriuga possesses a wide range of professional certifications and training in mine action, including EOD, Mine Action Managers Course (GICHD), Quality Management Training Course (GICHD), Animal Detection Systems (ADS) Managers Course, as well as numerous courses on International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), risk management, security, and humanitarian programme management. He has also completed specialized leadership and NGO management programs (NGO Leadership).
Today, he actively works on strengthening Ukraine’s national capacity in humanitarian demining, promoting localization principles, implementing innovative technologies, expanding the role of women in mine action, and developing international partnerships.
He is a regular participant in international conferences, professional platforms, and working groups dedicated to humanitarian demining, territorial recovery, and international cooperation.
He is fluent in Ukrainian, English, and Russian, has an advanced level of Turkish, and a basic level of French.
